How to get to Turku?

Are you planning to participate Ido's workshops in June 2015 in Turku, Finland but you are not quite sure how to get there? Here we have put up a little something to help you with your travel planning. Also, you can always get in touch with Marko (marko.gronholm@knowbody.fi) and ask for help or advice!

First - to Finland!

By plane
The way we see it there is two options. Easiest for finding the flights is to pick a suitable flight to Helsinki, Finland and continue the trip from there by bus. The other option is to fly straight to Turku. That can be done at least via Riga and Copenhagen. Of course there are connecting flights from Helsinki to Turku as well, but only a couple of times per day.

By boat
If you are coming from or via Stockholm you can always use the big Viking Line or Tallink Silja boats to Turku. The boat trip will take around 12 hours during the day or the night, whichever you prefer.

By train
If you are coming from or via Russia, you might want to consider taking the train from St. Petersburg to Helsinki and continue the trip on rail from there on to Turku.

Then - to Turku!

By bus
Let's say you have landed to Helsinki (Helsinki-Vantaa airport). Just hop in to a bus to Turku. The bus leaves from platform 13 just outside the terminal 2. The bus trip will take around 2 hours and 45 minutes and will cost around 35 euros. You can buy the ticket from the driver, no need for getting it in advance. The bus leaves hourly. If you have landed in Turku airport you can take the local bus to city centre - it will cost 3,00 euros and the trip takes around 25 minutes.

By train
You can get to Turku by train from Helsinki and from Tampere direction. From Helsinki the train will take less 2 hours and cost you some 30 euros.

Sokos Hotel Hamburger Börs

Marina Palace is located right next to river Aura, and it is a nice hotel too. During the summertime the terrace is nice and has a good view to the river. Walking distance to the city centre.

Park Hotel
Park Hotel is a nice option for a little something different and unique. Walking distance to the city centre.

Harriet is a small and quite cheap hotel / hostel with standard rooms and small breakfast.

Omena Hotel
Another budget option would be the Omena Hotel. No breakfast included and standard rooms, nothing extra.

Hostel Borea
This one is a hostel in an old ship... A little walk from the city centre, but not too far away anyhow.
